Im finally a Sand Gnat!

My name is Sarah King, and I just moved over to Savannah from Mississippi. I joined the staff after finishing school in May just in time to start a long 8 game homestand! I work with Lauren doing promotions and the on field activities during the games. I was able to do a lot of fun things my first week here including meeting Paula Deen, our first Bark in the Park of the summer and an education day as well as help organize a 5K! Talk about a busy week. I loved jumping into the job quickly though, and I’m definitely ready for the next homestand that is quickly approaching!

I am a southern girl, so I feel right at home in Savannah. The city is beautiful and I have been lucky enough to get to see alot of it already. I definitely look like a tourist walking down the street with a camera taking pictures, but I don’t mind. 🙂

See you at the games!!!

Whats Going on at Grayson?

How’s it going Sand Gnats fans?!  I hope you’ve been enjoying the season so far!  We’ve had tons of GREAT games at Historic Grayson Stadium.

The team is now 22 and 29.  With the boys currently on the road in Greenville, SC they’re 3-0 this series against the Boston Red Sox affiliate Greenville Drive.  We’re hoping for another win tonight with your Sand Gnats Mikel Cleto on the mound!  The boys have off for a traveling day tomorrow but return to action on Thirsty Thursday, May 29 here at Grayson Stadium.  Be sure to join us for 1/2 off beer and soda all night presented by Rock 106.1 and Connect Savannah.

What you should look forward to this weekend:

Thursday, May 29: is Thirsty Thursday

Friday, May 30: Bloomingdale Community Night presented by the MPC with post game FIREWORKS!

Saturday, May 31: Jimmy Buffett Night!  Enjoy a Cheeseburger in Paradise and a Margarita at the ballpark!Buffett-Night-08.jpg

Sunday, June 1: is Cancer Survivor Day.  We’re welcoming all survivors and their care givers.  Contact the American Cancer Society of Savannah for your invitation.  It’s also Kids Sunday presented by the CW Network and Big 98.3!  Kids can run the bases and get player autographs after the game!

I look forward to seeing you here!

mikey_p_1.JPGOk, so it’s been a while since we wrote on our blog and we apologize.  We’ve had a busy first month here in Savannah with two long homestands to start the season.  The Gnats are on the road right now in Asheville wrapping up a four-game set with the Tourists.

As a staff, we would like to thank all of those that came out to the ballpark during the first month of the season.  We had a great time and we hope that you did too!  When the team is out of town, we are busy getting ready for the next homestand.  On the media front, we still do game notes and help prepare stats for opposing teams while the team is on the road so that is what’s going on in my department.

This past weekend I went to the beach a couple times and caught some rays…that was fun.  Those of us that went also bought a bocce ball set to play with on the beach.  I used to have better than average bocce skills but they’ve diminished without practice.  By mid-summer, I should be back in professional form.

I’ll quit rambling now.  Go Gnats!
